Artforum reports that The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens opened its doors to the public on Friday. The museum will offer free admission throughout May ahead of its official opening in April, despite funding shortages and challenges with the renovation pushing back the date several times.

Previously, the Ministry of Sport and Culture was criticised for the dismissal of previous directors, Anna Kafetsi and Katerina Koskina. Mendoni insists that new leadership will be confirmed within the next few weeks. The museum is currently working on its first exhibition program to be revealed on 19th April. In the meantime, the museum is exhibiting artworks by eight artists from its permanent collection.
